Does carbonation effect egg shells??

If you put egg shells in soda, the egg shells will soften. The carbonation in the soda is from carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide combines with parts of water molecules to make carbonic acid. The carbonic acid dissolves some of the molecules in the shell. It does the same thing to your teeth.
