The South Island will already be cold during the day and very cold at night... The North Island will be slightly warmer during the day but gets very cold at night. It also rains a lot.

New Zealand is cold to me anyway, even summer ;)

The weather in NZ is unpredictable at best! It's a small island in the middle of a big ocean and it gets all sorts! It should be reasonably warm then in the north island, but the south island could well be chilly. Always take some warm clothes, although it is always hot in the sun mainly due to the lack of ozone layer!
I've know it to snow in NZ in Feb which is the hottest month!
If you go to weather.co.uk and put in the city, you can click on 'climate statistics' and it will tell you averages for each month.

Just starting to cool down a little, but still reasonably warm and fine. It's a good time to come here as the kids are back at school and there's less pressure on accommodation and transport than in January. School holidays end next week.

March & April months are Autumn (Fall) - AT times March can still be warm and mild, not too cold. We found it last year in March still in shorts and t-shirts. April it starts to get cooler.
