Shanghai is a vibrant, exciting city where you can find just about anything. Up-scale shopping all along Nanjing Lu. Electronics and some entertainment at Grand Gateway area. Temples (the Jade Buddha Temple should not be missed while the Jing'An Temple isn't much). Museums (the Shanghai Museum in Peoples Square is great and cost is about RMB 150; the Shanghai Science and Technology Museum in Pudong; the Shanghai Aquarium is about RMB 160 or so). Nightlife (clubs, bars, KTVs, etc. with costs from low to over the top). You can do just about anything you want. Food in most restaurants is cheap (a few places are expensive).

well, Shanghai is one of the biggest cities in the world. They have a lot of festivals and cultural events going on all year. Invest in a good travel guide instead, like Lonely Planet or Dorling Kindersley. Those will provide much more reliable information than random people on the Internet. (Sorry, random people, I love you but you know it's true that most of y'all are full of it).
