I'd still be an atheist, and anything that advances science will only help our case.

It would be interesting if a project like SETI actually managed to open a two way conversation. Their religion at the very least would be different than ours which makes for some interesting dilemmas for the religious. How come Jesus didn't visit them too?

Its not a question of if, rather when.

Maybe, hopefully it will prove to religious people that we are nothing special in the universe, that this whole universe full of about 10^22 stars wasn't just created 6000 years ago for us.

Look at the picture below. This is probably my favourite photo. It covers an area of the night sky the size of a grain of sand held at arms length. Every single object in it is a galaxy containing around 400billion stars. Look at it then convince yourself that they were all created just for us.

If can get mighty big. Huh!! Why not just go by what is before you and not waste time wandering what might be when you can know what is now? It is not like God will not talk to you or reveal Himself to you. He will all you have to do is trust Him and you will see soon enough.
A story was told about a young man who was being ordained into the ministry. He was questioned about many things. One question was do you believe there is a devil. The young man said no. They said to themselves we can't ordain this man if He doesn't believe there is a devil. One of the wise old men said oh don't worry about that. He won't be out there any time at all and He will learn there is a devil. So they ordained the young man. Do you think he found out there is a devil?

Apparently the religious government doesn't want to find out the answer to that question. Otherwise we'd already know what they're hiding at Area 51, you know that place that doesn't exist even though you can see it plain as day.

I am a christian it would have no effect on me
I believe in life elswhere than earth
for Jesus himself said
Joh 10:6 I have other sheep that are not of this sheep pen. I must bring them also. They too will listen to my voice, and there shall be one flock and one shepherd. )

This is a pretty big universe, I don't think that God would create all that and not have life on it. You never know there could be and there could not be.

Very little effect, as anything which is proven wrong by such a discovery clearly means that thing was incorrectly interpreted. We'll re-interpret it. We can rationalize anything.

Not much. Religious people are too blinded by their teachings to the realities in this world so don't expect them to see realities in another
