My dear brother take note of this. I'll tell you how you're supposed to pray. Praying is not recieving, it is giving. Pray for others, than you'll be blessed. If you want to recieve, tell God why you need whatever you want to get. Tell him how it will help you spiritually. (I beleive praying for a christmas present won't work..well.. it depends on what it is.) If you're praying for something good, pray on and on, God said he loves to hear you asking because he loves to give.
And remember, prayer is not a really a religious thing, it is a dialouge with God, your father.

Lisa, the answer is within you.

Instead of waiting for them to come from above, you should realise, for starters, that the power lies within you. The answer to your prayers is YOURSELF.

There is this joke about this Jewish person who kept praying God to help him win the lottery, years and years, until one night he had a dream. He dreamt God came to him and told him: Listen, I heard your prayer, I would like to help you, but would you JUST buy a lottery ticket for once?!?

Things happen if you make them happen, if you set them in motion. No matter how confused you are on the outside, you have all the answes inside you. You just need to stop panicking and devise a strategy, a plan of action. You need to put things in order.

I believe most of us over-complicate our lives (I'm included :) ), adding too many variables to an already complicated equation, and, as such, we get confused, and cannot see the "right" path.

Try removing all things that complicate your life, that make a "tough situation" even tougher: people you don't or shouldn't trust, bad habits, bad relationships, shady situations, and you would be shocked at how much easier your life would be.

To sum it up, simplify your life (elliminate bad habits, bad relationships, bad attitudes) and devise a strategy, a working plan, and I am sure God will finally be able to work his way up to you, fulfilling your every need, as you have set things in motion yourself - you finally bought that lottery ticket. :)

Good Luck!

You are to stand by Faith trusting in God until you see the answer no matter how long it may take. Be patient with God He is not a man and He will always answer as He knows best. We don't know what we should pray for always. So be Patient. He says look neither to the left nor the right but to me. Having done all to stand Stand!!!!

Anything you need to know is in the Bible...according to this, read Luke 11 1-13
You need faith and trust that you'll get it...but you must know that in life there are many things that you won't get, perhaps God needs something to happen...many times we don't understand why we have to suffer, we don't know, but God knows why...and you must trust that it will be always be whatever God wants to, no matter how good or bad it is...when you feel bad, you'll always have that Bible who will give you hope...

Lets clarify a few things. Since sin, mankind is less than perfect. Perfection is YHVH's standard. YHVH sent the Savior YAHOSHUA so that by receiving Him man could receive the perfection needed to live in a perfect world. If a person chooses not to receive this gift, then he cannot live in the perfect world, and therefore, when the Almighty cleanses this world with fire, and burns up all sin (prior to making this world new, and perfect) then those people attached to their sins will be burned up with the sins they refuse to give up. How could the Almighty be more generous????

I am a muslim,And Islam was the religion Jesus Christ(Peace be upon him)originally preached,if being christian is following what jesus christ truly said, then i am more christian then most christians..
Anyway I have a good study of bible too..so i would try to answer this question(i hope you don't mind)
Pray to one god..Allah is the onlyt one who can do anyone any good or harm.
.Moses said:-
"Hear, O Israel The Lord our God is one Lord" Deuteronomy 6:4
Jesus said:-
"...The first of all the commandments is, Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord." Mark 12:29
The great messenger of God, Jesus, says: "And this is life eternal, that they might know You the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom You have sent." John 17:3
John 20:17
Jesus said to her, "Stop clinging to Me, for I have not yet ascended to the Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, 'I ascend to My Father and your Father, and My God and your God

Allah tells us in the Quran:
"People of the Book (Jews and Christians)! Do not exceed the limits in your religion, and attribute to God nothing except the Truth. The Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, was only a Messenger of God, and His command that He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in God and in His Messengers, and do not say: (God is a) trinity. Give up this assertion; it would be better for you. God is indeed just One God. Far be it from His Glory that He should have a son. To Him belongs all that is in the heavens and in the earth. Allah is sufficient for a guardian." (4:171-172(TRanslated By Yusuf Ali))

As a christian you should rember that God works in his time, not ours. Give him his timing. Maybe right now is not the best time to give you what you want. He knows our needs. Stay faithful, Stay strong. Don't let your faith waiver, it is than that the devil works. Keep the word in your heart and keep praying.
Also Jabez prayer (I chronicles 4:9-10). read daily.
