My apartment complex want proof of the breed of my dog. I don't have any paperwork or any proof of his breed. He's a mutt. If I take him to a vet, will they be able to tell me?

I'm pretty sure he has some siberian husky in him, which is a restricted breed in my complex. But he's pretty skinny and all white.

A vet certainly should be able to give you an idea of what breeds make up your dog. Even if it is a puppy, the vet should have some idea of what kind he is. When I worked at a vet. clinic we got asked this question a lot! If you let the vet know why you need to know, they can type up a paper for you to give to your apartment complex or maybe just their number so the apartment people can get in touch with the vet over the phone.

"Breed variety" is, particularly, yet in a distinctive way of announcing "what this breed of dogs is meant to look like". as quickly as you have hung out around a breed (or breeds) and gotten a feeling of breed variety, that is going to become particularly undemanding to tell while a dogs isn't purebred -- they're going to lack some good factors of their own breed variety, and have those of yet another (or others, counting on how they are blended). A Rott/Terrier mixture ought to in no way look like a Doberman, case in point (whether it develop into black/rust), because of the fact the physique kinds of the two the Rottie and maximum terriers selection a great deal from that of a Dobe. the top might nicely be blocky, like a Rott, or bluntly muzzled, like a terrier, even though it does no longer have the elegant sweep of a Doberman.

I know that where I live, dogs are required to be licensed by the county. The license and metal tag get renewed every year when she gets her rabies vaccine, and the breed information is on the paper license, not the metal tag. . If your dog is a mixed breed, the license should state so. I know that my dog's license states she is a spayed female Australian mix breed, along with her color.

If you can't find her license, you can probably get a copy from your vet. Alternatively, you could also ask your vet for a letter.

Good luck.

what breed does your vet have on file? go with that or tell the complex whatever you want. Its not like they will do a background check on your dog

The vet can give you a fairly good guess. I doubt the vet would be willing to put it in writing however. Might have to go the trusty word processing/yes I made this up route. Good Luck.

Get on word and make up some BS paper work that proves he's an "Belchowagin" breed from the Alps

If he is an adult, you can take him to the vet and they can give you a rough idea of his dominant breed and approximately how big he will get.

If it's not on his records or an old invoice, you can probably take him in and ask them to write a letter. Does he appear to have any 'dangerous' breed in him, or is it their policy with all dogs?
