LITTLE bit contraction does NOT = labor. Lots of contraction longer stronger closer together= labor...then call midwife...

you should be seeing your midwife or Dr. once a week to see how far along you're progressing (or not). You really shouldn't have to worry about being in labor unless (1) your water breaks or (2) your contractions are between 10 and 5 minutes apart. Other than that, the contractions that you feel are just getting you and your baby ready for labor. Those contractions are what dilate your cervix.

Good luck!

sounds to me as if the baby is dropping and getting into position for birth. it's not uncommon for babies to be born 2 weeks early, and you are only one day from 38 weeks. there are going to be tons of uncomfortable periods and lots of braxton hicks contractions from now till the time your baby is born. you are probably dilated but usually no more than 2 until active labor sets in. you're baby is probably just settling into his/her position (like i already said), don't worry, when that baby comes, trust me, you'll know it! Congrats!

It doesn't sound like labor. If you have to wonder about it, it almost definitely is not.
It could be that really early, prodromal stuff that goes on for days. Ignore it, if possible. Try to keep comfortable, do whatever you can to stay relaxed and to distract yourself from it.
The last few weeks can be miserable. My sympathies.
But soon, it will all be behind you, and you will be holding your baby. You really will.
Good luck!!!

I'd hold off calling your midwife until your contractions are regular, unless she has told you otherwise. There will be no doubt when the real contractions start, you'll know and you'll definitely get on the phone to her.

You should at least call your doctor. He'll probably want to see you right away. Oh, you're using a midwife. Give her a call and ask her to please do an exam to see what she thinks. It's probably just false labor. Try walking. Have you lost your mucus plug? Good Luck.

If you are having contractions, dont' call the midwife till they are regular and close together otherwise you will waste your time calling her.
