Next time, before you get another report card, you should write this letter to your dad:

Dear Dad,

It is with great regret and sorrow that I'm writing you.

I had to elope with my new girlfriend, because I wanted to avoid a scene with Mom and you. I've been finding real passion with Stacy She is so nice, but I knew you would not approve of her, because of all her piercings, tattoos, her tight Motorcycle clothes, and because she is so much older than I am. But it's not only the passion, Dad. She's pregnant. Stacy said that we will be very happy. She owns a trailer in the woods, and has a stack of firewood for the whole winter.

We share a dream of having many more children. Stacy has opened my eyes to the fact that marijuana doesn't really hurt anyone. We'll be growing it for ourselves, and trading it with the other people in the community for all the cocaine and ecstasy we want. In the meantime, we'll pray that science will find a cure for AIDS, so Stacy can get better. She sure deserves it!!

Don't worry Dad, I'm in grade 7, and I know how to take care of myself.

Someday, I'm sure we'll be back to visit, so you can get to know your many grandchildren.

Love, your son.

P.S. Dad, none of the above is true. I'm over at Tommy's house. I just wanted to remind you that there are worse things in life than the school report that's on my desk. I love you!

Call when it is safe for me to come home.

Make sure you clean your room and leave it on your bed. It'll definitely send a message.

Matt: Your having problems with your grades at school for one of two reasons. First, you may be "day dreaming" your days away in class. If your attention span hasn't been developed, in other words Matt, if you find it difficult to "concentrate" in class, you should ask your parents to set up some "testing" for you. You could be dyslectic, a very common problem that can go undetected for years. This may be the reason you have such difficulties in reading. Whatever the cause is Matt, you need to speak to your parents, pick the one that is the easiest and start out by admitting you need special additional help with school work. You must set the pattern now or you will fail in High School. Your skateboarding is a "sport", which if your improvement(s) in your marks is forthcoming, then I see no reason your parents won't allow you to go, on your Free Time. Good Luck

If you are serious about improving your grades, then sit down with your teachers and work out a plan of improvement for each class. Include check points along the way so you know how you are doing. Your teachers should be happy to help you.

Your parents are going to freak when they see the grades, BUT if you can present them with a plan to improve the grades it will let them know you are serious.

Lastly schooling is important, suppose you are a success like Tony Hawk? He now has a multi-million dollar business to run and that requires an education!! Otherwise someone smarter than you will take all of your money! Good Luck.

unfortunately parents don't just "forget" ugly grades but luckily they also remember good ones. you're prob avoiding your homework and going to the skatepark instead, right? and chances are, you don't understand the material? dont be afraid to ask for help from your teachers or even your parents or get a tutor. make a study schedule and stick to it! use the skatepark as a reward when you improve your grades. study hard and think about how much better you will feel when you get your act together: remember your education will affect the rest of your life. good luck, matt!

Figure out why your grades are so bad. Is it b/c you don't want to study? Is it b/c you have problems seeing? Ask for a tutor or for help from your teacher after school if you have to. Make an achievable goal for yourself homework wise, achieve it and go from there. Since your worst subject is reading I'd say work hard to bring your F to a C+ -Hard work you bet! Do able you Bet! If you have problems with the words- maybe your dyslexic. Maybe your just a slower learner than the rest. Try to raise your grades with achievable goal's and once you've gotten there ask your parents if you can go to the skate park.-First set this up with your parents, Ask them if you raise your grades may you go to the skate park? Good luck!

Well, you're not gonna like my answer. BUT the BEST way to make them forget is to make the grades BETTER. Better as in PASSING. The only way to do this is to get your head out of your backside and hit the books EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. And STUDY. If you have a problem in understanding what it is you are studying then go see your parents and ask them for help. This will show them that you DO CARE and they will be more willing to help you out. It isn't going to be easy by any means but it can be done. BUT it is going to take work on your part. And the best thing to come from all this is you will get to go to the skate park. Good Luck, Get going HIT THOSE BOOKS!!!!!

It sounds to me like you need to get extremely enthusiastic about your education. Once you start applying yourself, your grades will come up. Once your grades are up, and stay there your parents will probably reward with a trip to the skatepark. However, it sounds like you have your work cut out for you. I think you need to hit the books, they are far more important than a skate park. If I were your parents, and you didn't bring your grades up, your butt would be hurting very very extremely majorily bad.

I know exactly what you mean... I skate too, and it's addictive when you're passionate about it, and you get side tracked easily. My thing is I'm just upfront with my folks and I let them know I'm not the best at priorities all the time. So I ask them not to be so much of a parent but my of a support when it comes to me and my grades. They understand that I care about my grades, it's just not something I love like skating. When I let them know, then they help me level both out, and they're not caught off gaurd if I bring a dissappointing grade becuase I've already let them know in the beginning.

the only way you will be able to go to this skatepark is probably if your grades improve grately so i suggest that you get a tutor for each class and study as much as possible i know that doesnt sound like fun but with as low as your grades are thats what you need to do is just study and about making your parents happy all parents really want for their kids is to be successful but in order for you to be successful you need to work hard at everything you do including homework and class work.

Study more. Worry about play later. Unless you're going to be a professional skateboarder, your studies are your "job" and you need to put your effort into them.

If you are falling behind because you are lost with the subject matter, ask your teacher for help at lunch or after school. If your school has a homework club, join it if you can. If that fails, ask your parents for help, maybe they just need to know that you are having trouble and need help.

Also, make sure you were given credit for all of your assignments. Aim to have no missing assignments. Ask if you can do extra credit work.

Good luck!
