I used to be Agnostic because an atheist claims to "know" there is no God. I was never that since that is just faith in reverse. However, suffice to say I was a fire breathing Agnostic.
I can't say any one thing changed me. However, I found the “Christ type” parallels in the Old Testament to be very convincing evidence that Christ is in fact what is claimed. Therefore I opened myself up to the very real possibility it is all in fact true. That was just the beginning. After all, I exist so why can't God exist?
For example Joseph in Genesis is betrayed for silver, robe dipped in blood, dead to his father and symbolically resurrected as prime minister of Egypt. The book of Joshua is full of similar parallels and Joshua is actually Jesus in Hebrew. Moses, is symbolically dead and lives again to be a prince much like Joseph, being floated down the river in the basket was an Egyptian funerary ritual. Jonah sacrifices himself to save his ship mates from the wrath of God and is symbolically dead three days and three nights. All through the Old Testament these parallels appear almost to the point of ridiculous. It’s as if the Old Testament was written after the new but it verifiably was not. I can do the math and those parallels cannot be a coincidence. It's as if the Old Testament contains encrypted messages within the body of the stories themselves. I find that to be amazing. However, even though there is plenty of evidence, God requires us to have faith and if you cannot do this you cannot be a believer. And faith is not "blind" this is how God has chosen to make Himself known to us. It only appears blind from the outside if you do not have faith.
I would suggest reading Genesis Chap 37 to the end of Genesis. That's the story of Joseph and you will see even more "Christ Type" parallels than I even mentioned. I just gave you a little hint.
Blessings,
Mike

Except for atheists, we are all ex-atheists. We were all born without religious beliefs, and some are indoctrinated into religion as children. That doesn't make them theists, it makes them brainwashed. A child is not capable of choosing to embrace religious faith - that choice is made for them. If they choose it when mature, that is the point where they become "believers". No matter how they reach their faith, however, they are still ex-atheists.
My son is an atheist. When he was little, no matter what I did, he had no interest in religion. When he became a teen, I began to seriously examine his lack of religious belief, and I became an atheist once I recognized the innate logic of it. The only thing I regret is that I didn't do it sooner, and I made the poor kid suffer through church. He never bought any of it, not for one minute, and he's a genius. I had to think about that. Neither of us could ever be believers...as I mentioned in an earlier question, it seems like a pretty one-way street.

In my whole life I have only met one, and they came from an atheistic household and probably never really were an atheist themselves.
I have never known a person to consciously decide to be an atheist and then change their mind later.
I, like most atheists, was raised Christian.

I became an atheist when I was a teenager but later after my life fell apart, I started to pray and believe in God. He started asnwering my prayers and then I started reading the Bible for myself and getting answers.
The problem with atheists is not that they lack evidence, but faith.

kirk cameron claims that he was, but he couldn't've been an atheist for any sort of well thought out reason. he'd probably just never given the subject much thought. i can't imagine that it's all that common that true atheists get sucked into a religion after having avoided indoctrination.

The only way I can see an Atheist becoming a christian is after a frontal lobotomy.
Because once you realize that god is an imaginary sky-pixie, you don't go back.

Nope, the reverse is true for me. Nothing justifies arrogant and exclusionary claims about the unique sanctity of any religious text. Nothing conclusively demonstrates the existence of one or any god.
