Short answer..turn yourself in..go to the nearest military base and just turn yourself in. You'll be given a quick discharge, and released. You will be home in less than 30 days. Put simply, the military doesnt want people who dont want to be there. You will probably just get a "failure to adapt" discharge, which basically means nothing, it just bars you from ever enlisting again. It doesnt follow you around like a dishonorable does. If you dont just go back, they *will* find you eventually. You will get stopped for speeding, get in a traffic accident, or something that will make a police officer run a check on you and you will show as being a deserter and wanted by the military. You will be arrested on the spot and held until MPs come get you. Then you *will* be in trouble. Just take your little lumps now and go back and let them out-process you. Its just easier that way, and you wont have to spend forever looking over your shoulder.

It's okay. Don't fret. I was in basic in the Air Force. They want you to succeed. Part of basic training is to weed out the people who can't handle it. It's okay. It's okay. It's not for everyone. Believe me, they know this and they send people home from basic all the time. You are not in any trouble. Well, you are, but you will be okay. They're there to help you, not hurt you. If you can't handle the mental stress they will understand this. Trust me. I've been there. Email me with any questions you have. I am right here for you. This is nothing to worry about. They want you to be safe. Trust me. My whole family is military. My dad was a commander and an inspector general. Inspector Generals are the people who ultimately have the say in what happens to you. They are reasonable people, and I promise you, it will not go that far. I'm here for you. You'll be fine.
LISTEN TO RICH F. HE IS RIGHT!!
and if you want more advice you can always talk to my dad. He is retired now and he can answer all your questions.
Just out of curiousity...what branch are you AWOL?

Go to the nearest recruiter or MP station and turn yourself in.
It might sound like I'm giving you the worst possible advice right now, but you need to get this taken care of. The Army's not going to go away, and the sooner you get back, the easier you will make this for yourself. If you get back within 6 months, you have a great chance of just getting your discharge and no jail time. You mention you've been gone for 4 weeks--if you've been gone for more than 30 days, you're considered a deserter, and if you can, get back before then. Even if you've passed 30 days, turn yourself in TOMORROW.
If you want to know if you've been dropped from rolls, call the deserter hotline at 502-626-3711 or 3722 or 3724.

ok, first issues first you may desire to calm down slightly and be attentive to that your son would be ok. Your son is seen a servicemember even inspite of the shown fact that he's in coaching. he's challenge to the Uniform Code of protection tension Justice, something like this does not bypass unpunished. on the 2d he's AWOL yet whilst he's long previous for extra advantageous than 30 days he's seen a deserter and the protection tension will deliver out a needed observe for all police companies interior united states. by using operational commitments in Iraq and Afghanistan, the likelyhood that your son will face a protection tension court docket martial is extremely no longer likely. easy coaching for all the centers are having their shares of AWOLs and UAs. And maximum MPs and criminal investigative brokers do no longer hardship with AWOL or Deserters till that servicemember had a intense risk-free practices clearence. As an HR expert and previous Marine, i will actual enable you be attentive to that your son will nevertheless have a destiny. purely like many that abandoned and dodged the draft have been able to get a destiny of their own. He in all risk won't get a job as a cop or in some investigative government branch, however the non-public sector won't hardship with it. colleges will nevertheless settle for him. enable him be attentive to that he nevertheless has a destiny, that he can nevertheless have a job, yet he additionally made a promise to the folk of united states that he choose for to be interior the militia. no one compelled to connect, he did it on his own. And now's the time to make sure regardless of if he may well be a guy and face his household initiatives and his consequences or be a runaway continually, leaving many people disenchanted in him. stable success sir.

Look brother, I don't know why you decided to call it quits. And truth be told, I don't care. But if you're going to quit only a month into the joke that Basic has become since I went through, I don't want the likes of you in my Canadian Forces.
Now, I'm going to tell you one thing. Be enough of a human being to go and turn yourself in. Depending on how long you've been gone, they'll cut off your pay real soon and then you'll definitely be in trouble. Any cop shop will do, but if you walk back on base under your own power and your own free will, they might consider that when they charge you.
But in the end, you'll get what you want: your career will be over, and if you get the full blown disciplinary release, you won't even be able to work a night shift in a corner store or hold a mail route, I promise you that.
Own up and get it over with.

The answer is in you, do you want to hide and have this huge thing on your head the rest of your life or do u want to go back now, be yelled at for a couple of weeks and be done with it. You are now put on a list where every government agency has your name. If you are pulled over by the police you will be arrested for being a deserter and that will be put in your local newspaper. Do you want your whole town to read that or just take a rough 2 weeks and get your discharge and leave.. like i said the choice is yours

Well you could try completing the training before deciding that your failure. I would try and go back if you can, they might like you restart training.
You'll be surprised what you are capable of when you don't give up.

Pretend like you don't know who you are and act crazy when they catch you! You would have been better off if you broke your own leg while in training. At least that would have gotten you out of it!
