Hi all

Could you please say what aspects of Satanism attracted you to become a Satanist and what fundamental beliefs do you live your life by.

Thanks

(NB - this is not a question to judge your choices and I'm not a Christian looking for an arguement - just genuinely curious.)

I originally started out in LaVeyan Satanism because I liked the idea of being self sufficient, responsible for my own actions, thinking for myself, and self worship. But I still felt there was something more (I've always believed in a higher power of sorts), at which time I learned about a form of Theistic Satanism called Daemonolatry, which is basically Demon Worship.

Demon in the archaic sense of the word (Daemon and Daimon) meaning Divine Intelligence and Replete with Wisdom. So I liked having an independent, symbolically significant deity like Satan at the head of the pantheon I work with, and it just really resonates with me to break the Demonic Divine (the natural universe) into more palatable bits. I simply resonate with *darker* Gods and Godforms because for me - spirituality is all about looking into and discovering the potential of the self in relation to everything else. It's about seeking what is hidden and shedding light on it.

The beliefs I live by - there are quite a few.

-Enjoy life and those you love while you can. Life is fleeting and no one is guaranteed another day.
-Take responsibility for yourself and your actions.
-Take care of yourself and those you love.
-Seek inside yourself for wisdom and truth because that's often where it's hiding.
-Take a chance once in awhile - it makes life richer.

I could probably keep going - but these came to mind first.

I guess I would call myself a "reform Satanist," even though that's a term I made up myself. I don't believe in magic (even if you spell it with a "k") or that Satanic rituals do anything. I prefer to think of Satanism as a philosophy. I find that living my life based, more or less, upon the Satanic Statements and avoiding the Satanic Sins has lead to increased happiness, success, etc. for me. By no means do I completely agree with Anton, but I accept enough of his doctrine to call myself a Satanist, I think. Religiously, I'm just a plain old atheist.

Still no satanists.

Who are these "satanists"....I also believed they existed...but aside from a few sarcastic "goths"...where are they?
