Get caller ID and a caller ID box;
Then check all incoming call's numbers and if it matches that number, let your answering machine or voice mail take the call. Make sure that the message has your name and phone number so that it screens out people who are calling the wrong number, or possibly calling an old number that used to belong to someone else but is now your phone number.
If you don't have an answering machine, or until you have caller ID if you recognize the same voice when they say hello, pretend that you are the answering machine picking up the call: "this is (your name) at (your phone number) please leave a message 2 second beep then silence".

Dial your customer services number and ask them to block that number. I would give further advice but i'd need more details on the call. It's my job as the 100 operator, but the best thing to do is call your customer services and tell them to block it. It should be free. The problem is, they can withold their number and still get through. You could put a block on all anonymous calls and anyone you know that automatically witholds their number when calling you won't beable to get through unless they go through the 100 service or dial 1470 to give out their number when dialling. Any relatives or friends should be warned not to withold their number when phoning and theyll get through fine.

ring b.t. and ask them to block any further calls coming to you from this number, or if it doesnt't really matter and you can give all the important peeps your number just change it, better still get an answer machine! they will soonget bored, if they hang on blow a whistle and dont put the phone down it is possible that they will not be able to disconnect you and they wont do it anymore

Change your number to ex-directory you can do it over the phone,just have an old phone bill with your reference number handy...it will cost you though ,they'll add about £35.00 on your bill...but for peace of mind it's worth it.
If you don't want to do this ,since you've already got the source number,give it to the police.

Whatever you do don't blow a whistle down phone - you can be prosecuted for that!!!!
OK Various thing yous can do. If you are with BT. You can get a service call Choose To refuse for 1 month free and this will let you block this number from calling you. (Just to be on safe side register with tpsonline.gov.uk (stops marketing calls).
Tips: When you answer phone don't say anything - let them speak first. Don't enter into any conversation and don';t react to anything they say. Don't slam phone down - just hang up as normal. This will eventually get the better of them - they may be doing this to get a reaction from you.
If not with BT Contact your service provider.
Hope this helps.

The fact that you've retrieved their number means whoever it is, is pretty stupid.
Contact your phone provider and report them. Prosecute 'em to the full extent of the law.
