Mine are also being held. After they said that they were accepted and being deposited on 1/26/2007. Then they said it was deposited on the 26th, but after 5 days the bank never received it. I was then told it was on hold. I was given 2 different stories. 1) It was chosen to be held (along with 75,000 others) to research the Earned Income Credit since there is so much fraud. No other info could be given. Was mad so I called back... 2) There was a question about either the taxes or EIC. So I am waiting for a letter from them that is to be sent on the 5th explaining in more detail why they are holding and it could be 2-3 weeks before they resolve the issue. If they find that my refund is fine, I will receive it at the end of this time. If it is not fine, I will receive a letter. This is making me so mad. I filed a 1040 A for Pete's Sake. It is pretty cut and dry. I was advised to contact a Tax Advocate and they have started a case to assist me. I spent about and hour on the phone giving info for them to tell me they are sending this info to my states' local Tax Advocate and it could be next week before I get a call. Again, the wait game, But maybe they can help. Taxpayer Advocate Service toll-free phone number: 1-877-777-4778

worldwide internet every day is a humorous tale. perhaps you're able to study the trial transcript of My Cryer's criminal trial. He beat the rap on criminal costs via proving that (whilst an legal expert, albeit a Louisiana one) he develop into TOO stupid to comprehend that he develop into required to document a return and pay taxes. What the suitable article fails to point is that he lost the CIVIL case and paid the taxes, plus effects (totaling over 150%), court docket fees, legal expert's expenses, etc. His very final out-of-pocket cost all in develop into around TEN circumstances what the tax bill develop into interior the beginning up. perhaps he's that stupid regardless of each little thing. Quoting trial transcripts out of context (as you do in Stapler) is cheating and disingenuous. The area you copied describes the plaintiff's allegations, no longer the ruling interior the case. flow decrease back and study the full transcript and get decrease back to us on that. in addition to, you have referred to the incorrect case -- that is Staples v. U.S., 21 F.Supp. 737 (D. Pa. 1937) -- and the suited sentence does not look in any respect interior the trial transcript. some tax protester kook MADE IT UP. Claiming that the IRS isn't a central authority business enterprise basically exhibits your intense lack of understanding. The IRS is a factor of the Treasury branch. provided that the Secretary of the Treasury is a member of the President's cupboard, the IRS maximum veritably IS a central authority business enterprise. So, interior the tip, in case you do no longer pay the bill (plus the effects and activity) the IRS will basically help themselves on your wages, financial employer and investment money owed, and the different factors that it may discover. If the U. S. legal expert makes a decision to document criminal costs you will have the skill to beat that in case you may teach to a jury which you're TOO stupid to comprehend the requirement to document a tax return while ordered to achieve this or pay the tax. good success with that.

Some one lied. If the IRS is holding your taxes, they KNOW why. Call back and talk to a supervisor. Don't hang up without an answer.

THEY don't know why, or YOU don't know why. If you called the IRS number and talked to a person who told you they didn't know why, call back and ask to talk to someone else. If they're on hold, they know why.

If YOU don't know why, then call the IRS and ask. It could be something simple like a name misspelled on a return or one digit in a social security number wrong - it could be something major is wrong.

Good luck.

My taxes were held one year simply because I had moved and my address did not match with what they had on file for the previous year. Could this be a possibility by chance?

Run a credit check, someone may be using your SSN. The IRS is confused as to how you are reporting income in one state when you have a job in another. MAYBE THIS IS THE CASE?

If you filed as head of household and claimed any dependents and credits, your return may be under examination. You should receive a notice with a phone number to contact with any additional info they may need to allow everything you claimed.

Did you claim any dependents? There may be a conflict with a SSN.
