I own a year old saint bernard. He does drool when he gets excited and if there is something very tasty he wants, but he stays inside with us and the drool is very tolerable. I have had no complaints. Do not let him around when u are eating as that really makes them drool. But mine has proven what I have heard about saint Bernards is NOT all true, but it may depend on the individual dog.

My brother has a St Bernard and yes he drools, his fur is not matted. Of course he does get taken care of on a regular bases brushed and bathed along with his other dog his Rottweiler/lab mix.

except that surgical operation is someway useful for the dogs, it incredibly is inhumane and egocentric to get it finished. it incredibly is like getting a cat declawed. in case you are able to not stay with a Saint Bernard as nature meant, then you fairly could look for a different breed of dogs. I could point out that i don't count variety neuter/spay surgical procedures against nature, through fact those techniques are mutually useful to human beings and animals. Declawing, debarking, tail docking, ear cropping and....salivary gland surgical operation (?) are fairly not useful to the animal and are entirely for human excitement. Any optional surgical operation that painfully and unnaturally modifies an animal's physique for no different reason than it makes the animal easier to stay with or better looking is inhumane.

Yes, they drool....a lot. I used to own one, and carried a rag in my back pocket constantly. The hair around their mouth does not matt, as its short.

they do slobber constantly, but are generally a short haired breed, so their fur cannot become "matted" also, with the regular care, maintenance and grooming that any pet requires, that wouldn't be a problem as such ^_^

They drool very much. We had one and I always had a bandana around his neck so that I could use it to wipe his mouth off.
