My boyfriend found her a month ago. She's not nearly full grown but she isn't really a kitten, either.

& she lost a tooth the other day, is that normal?

If she is still kitten-age-ish and losing healthy looking teeth she is probably losing baby teeth and about 5-6 months old. You are very lucky to have found the tooth, most kittens swallow them. This is the optimum time to spay her! I would recommend you take her to a veterinarian for a check-up, vaccinations, and spaying. While she is there, the vet can look in her mouth at her teeth and see how many adult teeth she has and give you a more accurate age. But for the health of your cat get her spayed! IT IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT!

Well, having raised 2 kittens, I have discovered a pattern (with my 2 anyway) That up until about 7 months old, they gain about a pound a month. This was true for both my cats, but with yours being a stray, she might not be the weight she's supposed to be. At 4 months they weighed 4 pounds, 5 months 5 pounds, etc.

As for the loss of teeth, this is probably your best age marker. Kittens start losing their 'milk teeth' aka 'baby teeth' at 4 months of age. Which is very normal, so don't worry.

But, without knowing anything else about your cat, I'd have to guess she's about 4-5 months old. Get her to a vet though ASAP, stray cats have a very high probability of having worms and other nasty little ailments. Which if left untreated can cause developmental problems among other things.

you should taker her to a vet they will be able to tell how old the kitty is by looking at its teethe if it had already lost a tooth that might not be a good thing but if it is a small kitten it is just losing its baby teeth but for the health of the kitten take it to the vet and get it checked out that way you know if it has any health problems you need to take care of

if she lost a tooth then hopefully she is a kitten still usually around 6months this happens, if you take her to the vet they can tell how old the cat is by the age of the teeth...i found a cat that i thought was a kitten because she was only 6lbs and when the vet checked her out he told me that she was about 15 yrs old...someone had thrown her out and she was literally starving to death...oh and she is blind and declawed so whoever did that should be shot, she is doing fine though

First have it checked out by a vet, and second keep an eye peeled in the area where it was found, he/she may have fallen off of someones roof or railing (not all cats are graceful). Someone may be looking for it. If not it could be the cat may have been forcibly evicted by someone like for example a grown-up that doesn't like cats, not all of them will put it in a box on the side of the road. I've seen people throw cats and kittens out of a moving car window.

As for its age, you could either cut in in half and count the rings like you would a tree, or you could simply not worry too much about it's age, just give it lots of love and attention, and it will love you and keep you company like a good little buddy.

cheers babe!!! good luck

I think cats are still replacing baby teeth with permanent teeth at around six months of age.

She really needs to see a vet for shots, testing for FIV and feline leukemia, worming and spaying so you have better do that right away. She sounds like she is old enough to get pregnant and you don't want that for sure.

Take her to the Vet. The Vet will be able to give you an idea how old she is. One thing for sure she is old enough to be spayed. You should take her to the Vet for a full check up,shots and spayed.

The vet can tell sometimes by their teeth. She is probably losing her "baby"teeth, and that would be normal for a kitten.
