my boyfriend and i have been dating 10 months, i'm 17 && he's 18... we're both pretty serious about God & we pray about our relationship every night ... but I really want us to pray together about it. Both of us feel extremely awkward praying outloud unless we're alone ... how can we get over the awkwardness and just pray together?

Maybe try it over dinner one night. Just hold each others hand and one of you pray aloud and the other one listen, then take turns praying around each other. That way, neither one of you feel like you are the only one doing it.

Just do it. It may seem awkward at first but pretty soon it will be normal. Maybe decide on who is going to pray aloud while the other listens, and decide ahead of time what is needed to be prayed about. My husband, son & self have just recently started praying aloud at dinner time, my husband was awkward at first but he saw how important it was and our 3 year old son loves saying thank you to Jesus for the food. He is just so sweet... Now it is practically normal for us! Maybe only make 1 day a week, a day you pray aloud togther, and the rest of the time you can pray by yourself...You will find what will work for you, but just do it, any time you try something new, it seems strange but it will get familliar faster than you think!

Jesus often spoke to his Father in heaven. Sometimes he wanted to be alone when he talked to God. One time, the Bible says, “he went up into the mountain by himself to pray. Though it became late, he was there alone.”—Matthew 14:23.
Your relationship? If you are engaged to be married, let your vows be first, keep your self's clean and you will prosper, This would be placing your Creator first. He then will help you to pray and gain understanding, The scriptures point out how a man and woman should be? See Eph 5:25-29, I Pet 3:1-6

If you're more comfortable praying with just the two of you, then start off with that. God bless you both for staying together with God. Keep doing this, you make God's heart smile. The more you pray the more comforable you'll become, and the better it will be for your relationship.

OMG - I'm bursting with joy ... this is sooooooooo sweet.

Ok, I finished reading "A Walk to Remember" by Nicholas Sparks ... and I so wanted a boyfriend who'd pray with me. You're sooooo lucky.

I guess I don't understand what awkward entails ... you might try having fun with it and try praying like you would a ping-pong game. You read a line, and then he reads a line. If you're still awkward ... laugh ... and keep going ... sometimes mediation before/after reading helps calm u'r minds.

You're sooooo lucky.

If you schedule a specific time on a specific day to maybe have a Bible study, together, it'll put you in a spiritual mood. Then, if you decide that each time you study, you'll end in prayer, it'll become natural to pray together, aloud, as the situation is more "spiritual," overall.

Pray together from your heart...

It's only awkward because you are making it awkward.
