Can anybody give me detailed and understandable info on these and not just a Wikipedia link?

How can I perform chakra meditation or 'open up' my chakras (if that's even possible)?

I'd like to start meditating, any pointers?

I'm truly interested by these subjects, but right now I'm pretty clueless. I'd appreciate it very much if you're knowledgable on these things and if you'd help me =)

I bought many books regarding chakras from amazon.com . There are many ways of meditating on the chakras.
You can open your chakras by intention. Visualize that it's like a lotus, and petal by petal it opens. The higher the chakras the more complex is the structure (more petals). When you only have 15 minutes, do the following:
1). visualize cleansing light coming up from earth (or from primary creator) and cleanse each of your chakras, letting go and removing all negativity. Bring it up going through each chakra from the 1st to the 12th chakras.
2). When go through each chakra, try to see if you can smell it, see it (what color), feel it, and listen to the vibration of each chakra. Spend sometime on each one of them.
3). Bring cleansing light from primary creator from above, and cleanse each chakra from the 12th to the 1st - letting go and removing all negativity. Then bring light down to earth and ground it (by intention).
4) do # 2 again.
5). Now visualize cleansing light coming down from above and from below at the same time cleansing each chakra from 1st to the 12th. Do #2 again.

If you have the time, spend more time on each chakra- feeling it, listening to the vibration, seeing the color, etc.

I really couldn't begin to type a decent answer to this - it's one of those things that is best taught in person, in my opinion.

If you have a "new age" store near you, go there and ask for a recommendation on a book. Or search "chakra meditation" on the web - I did and one of the first sites that popped up was a good place to start: http://www.learningmeditation.com/chakras.htm
