Why do they call the ends of the bread "heels"?

Ive wondered this for some time now and i want some answers...Hence the question

Cuz' they look like your heels LOL but kinda true.....things referred to as heels are usually on the bottom or end of things.

Like when you give your dog the command "heal!' He must position himself immediatly behind your heel & stay in step with you. (My mom always liked the heel of the bread..she always had "dibs" on it!!

i think its because like the back of your foot its the heel i guess
