JROTC and ROTC are different. JROTC is for high schoolers and there is no obligation to join. ROTC is for people in college, and there IS an obligation to join under certain circumstances. If you accept an ROTC scholarship or join the Advanced Course (as opposed to the Basic Course), there is also an obligation for a period of time.

Are you in High School? Then no - you don't need to. It's great experience and lots of fun!

In college - if you accept their scholarship - I *believe* that then you would be expected to join the service. (But they just call it ROTC)

No you don't but I suggest you keep at it. Free College Education with gauranteed work experience and Intermediate level Pay when you are complete with Service as an Officer in the Armed Forces.

Much better than any college graduate.. They have no experience and have to deal with interning.
