Enunciate carefully, avoid slang, use words that are more like the other person's language if I can, use simple sentence structure, use time adverbs rather than complicated tenses, repeat myself in another way, pause often to check comprehension

I wouldn't alter my speech. I would just enunciate and use my hands more.

same way one would simplify sentences/ideas for a child i suppose.
