My son is a size 8, I buy shoes a head of time and he has 2 pair 9's waiting but his foot seems to be taking forever to grow. How often (month wise) do toddlers change sizes? thanks.

I misread the question. Shoe size varies thats why I get my toddlers shoes at Wal-Mart and Target. Inexpensive and an easy loss if she outgrows them in a week (which she has done).

It varies from child to child. My oldest is 3yrs.8mos and he wears 91/2. My other child is 2yrs. 4mos. and he wears a size 8.Have you tried the size 9 shoes on your son yet, if they are way to big you could try buying a size 81/2 .
You could wait a month and see what happens.
