I'm on L1B Visa, working as a software consultant in US. I'm going to marry a girl,
She is a US citizen. which would be the easier option to get Green card sooner, same time
I want my keep work status in US (i dont want to go as her dependent or anything like that)

1. Marrying that gal in India.
2. Marry her in US itself.
3. How much time, Green card process will take for my case?

Any Experienced persons help would be more appreciated, Thanks

OK, not a major issue, If you are getting married in India, then go to embassy in India, get the forms, Get Married (congrats) now the longest part is the FBI packet since you have been working here it shouldn't take longer than 2-3 weeks. you will be granted a temporary green card from ICE, then your work visa won't really matter any more. Its not a bad process now that the INS is gone it is fairly streamlined. Just keep this in mind if an American marries a Foreign national, then If there is no disease or criminal record to bar entry, of the national, then approval is mandatory.

Best to marry in the U.S., processing time for green card is now 5-8 months, 6 for most cases. If you marry in India she may have to return alone and file the I-130 with the Service Center that covers her place of residence. And also upon return if the U.S. Customs and or U.S. Immigration Service becomes aware that you married a U.S. Citizen you could be denied entry on the pretense that you are attempting to circumvent immigration procedures.

Impal is misinformed, ICE, is Immigration and Customs Enforcement and do not extend any type of immigration benefits, but rather enforce immigration laws and insure returning immigrants are in compliance of the proper documents.

well, I dont know. but it can take awhile. To get a green card you might need to have an employer vouch for you.
