I was a Funeral Director for eight years, I ran my dads business whilst he was ill. I have never known any body be removed from the coffin prior to cremation. The handles, nameplate etc were made of plastic with either E.B. or N.P. paint on them - these went straight in the incinerator too.
I'm not saying that somewhere, there might be a business in cahoot with the crematorium staff, but I think its highly unlikely.
I was interested to see Reagan say that nowadays they have 'rental' caskets. This might be better for the environment and does actually make more sense and keeps the cost down.

If the family purchased a casket, regardless of its price, it is cremated with the body. There are caskets specifically made for cremation that look attractive but are cost effective. There are some funeral homes that rent caskets and only the lining and cardboard box holding that lining is cremated with the person. Caskets are not re-sold, that is illegal. They are only re-used if they are a rental casket, and the lining is replaced after each use. Hope this helps, take care!

From what I know, it is not necessary to have a coffin and if desired after the cremation, the ashes are either put in a box (cardboard) or urn.

I think this is a bit of an old chestnut. Brass-work may be removed but the body stays in the coffin and the coffin and its contents are reduced to ashes. As the bible says "from dust you came and unto dust you shall return!" The Church of England Funeral Service includes the famous lines " ashes to ashes, dust to dust".

Through my own personal experience.....The bodies were removed and the casket resold. Not ethical or legal but the truth.
And yes the Gold teeth do survive the cremation.

The bottom half of the coffin is c.r.ap and the lid is re-used. All handles are given back - so it's all a con.
