As Christians we are taught to believe that Heaven will be a perfect place. In the Bible it says of Heaven; "They will build houses and dwell in them." So I wonder, how will we do that? Will we use power tools, or hand tools, wood, cement or thatch, or gold and precious stones, or what? If Heaven is perfect, does that mean we will never miss the head of the nail with the hammer and hit our thumb instead, or if we hit our thumb then it won't hurt? It also says "they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit". So if we are using a pruning shear on our grapevine and we slip, will we never cut off a finger, or if we do, will it not hurt and it will grow back immediately or? Will the grass always stop growing at just the right height so we never have to mow it???

The scriptures you speak of are talking about what will happen on the earth. They say nothing about heaven. Remember that the meek will inherit the earth and they will live forever upon it.

Actually, it says that Jesus is going to prepare a place for us. As it is written: "There are many rooms in my Father's house. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going away to prepare a place for you? And if I am going away to prepare a place for you, I will come again and will welcome you into my presence, so that you may be where I am." (John 14:2-3)

The body that we carry on the earth is known biblically as a "tent." A temporary dwelling place. The term "rooms" in the passage above (Also translated "mansions" in some versions.) speak of a permanent dwelling, ie: a new body, as similar to our old body as a tent is similar to a building.

Paul confirms this in II Corinthians 5:1: "We know that if the earthly tent we live in is torn down, we have a building in heaven that comes from God, an eternal house not built by human hands."

A lot of things can be taken from a spirit viewpoint rather than get caught up in material thinking and details. The material from which homes would be built, would not need to be brick and mortar as they do not have to withstand weather. The accidents are not possible, because master craftsmen are available. All plants and nature renews.

Seriously, get a hobby. A girlfriend. Something.

Could it be athiests have way too much time to ask questions like this because they don't spend time reading the Bible, praying, or getting involved in church? That must be tha answer!

If nothing else, being a Christian keeps me busy.

I think it is spiritual, not literal. Like I make my home where the heart is. It doesn't mean I'm going to rip my heart out and build a wooden structure around it.

Oh great. I can see it now, I'm gonna have Jimmy Carter helping me and the media will be all over it.

"Yes Tom, we have here J.P. and Former US President Jimmy Carter, working with Habitat for Saved Humanity to build a heavenly home for JP. JP, how do you feel about this?"

"Um. How did I get here...? I swear, if that deity up there is Christian or Muslim, I'm going to freaking KILL HIS @$$!"

"And there's the daily blasphemy challenge in heaven! Back to you, Tom!"
