--I am not sure of the source of your quote, though it is a good one--but some scriptural references bring some sight to my understanding of being cautious when we review someone under our critical eye & pat ourselves on the back at the same time--

(Matthew 7:1-5) 7 “Stop judging that YOU may not be judged; 2 for with what judgment YOU are judging, YOU will be judged; and with the measure that YOU are measuring out, they will measure out to YOU. 3 Why, then, do you look at the straw in your brother’s eye, but do not consider the rafter in your own eye? 4 Or how can you say to your brother, ‘Allow me to extract the straw from your eye’; when, look! a rafter is in your own eye? 5 Hypocrite! First extract the rafter from your own eye, and then you will see clearly how to extract the straw from your brother’s eye."

--Jesus shows here that the rafter is indeed more evident than the straw. Yet our human tendency is to zero in on others weaknesses or mistakes, rathere we are many times far from being honest in our judgment of ourselves.

--The humility we need is sometimes rare in all of us. Thus we are emplored to do this:
(Romans 12:3) 3 For through the undeserved kindness given to me I tell everyone there among YOU not to think more of himself than it is necessary to think; but to think so as to have a sound mind, each one as God has distributed to him a measure of faith. "

I disagree with that statement. I believe it is more difficult to judge others since we cannot read other people's minds and know the intent behind their actions, nor the causes and conditions that have created their actions and intent. It's far easier to honestly judge myself because I can't hide from myself... at least not as long as I'm being honest.

We usually judge ourselves more harshly than anyone else would or could. Balance your thinking and realize whether you did the best with the knowledge available.

Since I accepted Jesus as my Personal Savior, because the Holy Spirit lives inside me, I get convicted as soon as I do , or say or think of something that is not of a righteous manner. This causes me to be my toughest critic. So I am much harder on myself than I am on others, because I am in God's word daily, and I sould know better that to do or say anything that is displeasing to God.

Most of us think Relatively. we Judge others Relative to what we believe. if so, when we want to judge ourselves, we refer to ourselves, then we found that it is OK! because Me = Me, no different!
but others are different with us. it will be easy (but not correct).

Judgment requires objectivity, and one is least of all objective about themselves.
