I'm 15 and I already have ideas of what I want to go to college for. I won't graduate until I'm 19. What age do you think kids should research and look into going to college? I also know that I'm going out of my state to go to college.

It's always a good idea to look ahead and set goals. The advantage of starting your search now is that you have time to address weaknesses in your application and map out the steps needed to acheive your goal. However, life is short and expending too much energy on something that is 4 years away could be something you'll regret. No matter how well you plan your college escape, there will be things that surprise you and don't go as planned. It's cliched but try to enjoy your days as a teenager - there are few times ahead where you're allowed to be as carefree as you're expected to be today! Also, give yourself room to change your mind as you grow. When I was 15 I wanted to go to an out-of-state school so badly... but I ended up going to the University of Virginia (in-state) and I had a great experience that I wouldn't change. Good luck with your search!

Around age 16 is the time where you should start considering possibilities, age 17 you should have a good general idea of where you want to go and what you want to do, and age 18 you should have definitive plans as to your course of action.

When you start high school. You will have to start making course selections based upon prerequisites at a fairly early stage, especially if you are wanting to go into a specialized field.
