So, stupid me. I put in ten pages of plain paper, thinking that my paper shredder could take it. Well, I had to fold the paper in half to make it fit, so it was more like twenty pieces of paper. :-/

It's totally clogged now and won't shred the paper that's stuck in there. Surely I am not the only person who's done this, so there must be some way to fix it. Any ideas?

Unplug it. Go in from underneath with, perhaps, a pair of needle-nosed pliers and keep pulling at the 'undigested' bits until all you can see are gone, and try to turn it on again. DO NOT pull from the top as that is fighting the direction the chopping blades are meant to rotate in...... if all else fails, burn the documents!!!

If you can pull the paper back out, do so. Otherwise you might have to take it apart. And make sure you unplug the thing before you start messing with it. Good luck!

The shredder should have a reverse setting.

When mine gets clogged I usually run it in reverse and most of the stuff comes unstuck.

1) Unplug it first. (Extremely important.)
2) Clear manually.
