I'm going travelling all round the world soon and my current mobile contract is coming to an end. Am I better off getting a new contract with a UK provider?? Is there a tariff that's cheaper than others when roaming...or a dedicated provider...or am I better off getting a PAYG chip at the various countries I visit? Thanks for any input!

If you're in a country long enough (a month or longer), get a PAYG in that country. Take a mobile from the UK anyhow but I don't who has the best rates. You may also want to take a chargecard from your landline supplier as they are cheaper than mobile rates.
What I would do is leave your mobile of divert to your voicemail when abroad and check your voicemail once a day using your chargecard.
