It is true that religion is mental illness. So many people with schizophrenia hear a voice or voices in their head which they attribute to being God. That God told them to do this or that. Now look at the stories in the Bible, where people hear voices (nobody around them hears the voices) to tell them to do this or that, either good or bad. IE: sacrifice your son to me, etc. We help those people in current time with drugs and make their lives better as we realize that it is a chemical imbalance, however we actually believe that those people in the past were talking to God. Hmmm.......sounds crazy to me.
