You are spending the money, who really cares how long it takes to hit your account.
The major advantage to using your debit card as a credit card is that you are covered under VISA or Mastercard (depending which logo is on it) for your purchases (and fraud).
If you use it as a debit card (PIN style), your bank is the only company liable. Banks normally do not cover nearly anything, as much as they tout they do.
In short, if you are purchasing an expensive item, use it as a CC, otherwise, you can use it either way without fees.
The last caveat is under debit card mode, your bank normally has a lower daily spending limit (between $1K-3K), where under CC mode it is much higher (normally $3K-5K). Sometimes there is also a 'single purchase' limit, as well.

The only difference between a debit card and a regular credit card is that with a debit card, the purchases you make are subtracted DIRECTLY from your checking or savings account from money you have deposited. A debit card works all the same ways a credit card does, including getting cash from an A.T.M. using the pin number.
I use a debit card for my business and I really like it because I never have to carry cash and when I'm out of money I can't spend any more until I deposit my next check from getting paid from wherever my income source is. Debit cards are either Visa or Mastercard.

I'm not too sure myself, but I think it has to do with the business itself. They are charged more money as a transaction fee if it is credited as a debit amount as opposed to credit card. I always thought a debit card was fool proof and safe but since they accept signatures than anyone could steal a debit card and sign, so I don't know what the benefit is. Hope you find out, good to know.

If you use it as a credit card, the banks charge the vendor a fee for accepting the card. By using it as a debit, the banks charge the vendor no fee. Some banks will charge you a fee if you use the card as a debit.
Also, some banks will let you earn points on your check card as long as you are using it like a credit card and not using the pin.

When you use it as a debit card you put your pin in and it comes directly out of your account. When you use it as a credit card you have to sign the receipt and it usually takes a couple days to show up on your account.

Using your pin will usually make the transaction go to your bank more quickly. Using it as a credit card can take a couple of days to hit your bank, (depending on where you use it.)

Not sure about all banks, but the bank I use charges a fee everytime I buy something and use my pin number, but if I use it as a credit card, there is no extra charge. Check with your bank to see of the same applies to the one you use.
