My bf e-mailed me, "[my name], good evening. [my name], when can you come to Japan?" I wrote back: "Ogi, good morning. Ogi, my plans aren't definite yet but I should be going back to Japan in April at the earliest. I want to go to the place of our memory, Tokyo Disney Resort, with Ogi. I wrote Ogi a letter. Please e-mail me when you receive my letter." My bf e-mailed me back: "[my name], hello. [my name], I prefer emails to letters/e-mails are better than letters. [my name], from now on please make it e-mails. [my name], for letters it takes time until it reaches you. [my name], in that time it happens that your frame [state] of mind may change in a big way. Also/in addition, e-mails can be read easier. [my name], for that reason e-mails are more excellent than letters, and can be used more easily/is more conveniently designed." I spent a lot of time choosing the stationery and went through two drafts to write the letter, so I was a bit disappointed. Appreciate any thoughts?

I didn't know people still wrote letters, that is so 20th century........Guys don't care about stationary and how perfect your penmanship is. He is a guy, and guys are simple and practical. My handwriting sucks, and I hate waiting out in the cold everyday for the mail to come. I love email, it is simple, I can use spellcheck, and it gets there instantly........I have to agree with your boyfriend....

Well, I think it's mostly because it's easier to write e-mails. It can be a little more light hearted rather than having the envelope come in the mail. Besides, it's an international shipping. unless you use air mail, it'll take at least a month to get there, and to get one back. I'm sure he appreciates the effort you put in writing the letter. But If I were him I would feel a little guilty for making you go through that trouble for a letter. Well, everybody's different, but that may be the case for him too...

Some men are not into writing letters and e-mail is much faster-you can keep in contact quicker. I doubt he meant anything by it.

I wouldn't be upset. E-mails get to him faster than letters do so he is basically wanting to hear from you faster.
Sure, you can't put as much personality into it but there are always e-cards.

i think he prefers emails because it's a faster way to get to talk to you.

he doesn't want to have to wait to hear from you. and maybe he's just not the letter writing type.

but one letter here or there would never harm anyone!

best of luck!

Emails are nice because they are fast, but if you're writing a letter, you can express yourself better.
