Well, Hindus believe that this cycle of 4 "yugas" started about 2 billion years ago. Although this is not when the Earth was made, it is right around when eukaryotes (the type of (complex) organism we are) came about.

Also, from Carl Sagan, astronomer: "We know that the Earth is about 4.6 billion years old, and the cosmos, or at least its present incarnation, is something like 10 or 20 billion years old. The Hindu tradition has a day and night of Brahma in this range, somewhere in the region of 8.4 billion years.""

Ok, so for the first thing I said, I found this:

It does all the math (under a section called the present age of the universe), but it's a bit confusing. So Sagan's statement doesn't mean much, because it is only the middle of the day (around 2 billion) right now. The Universe is only 2 billion years old according to Hinduism. (But we came a lot closer than certain other people.)

That site explains it all very well.

The Bible does not say how long the earth has been in existence. Those who say God created the earth in 6 "days" have not read the creation account correctly. The creation "days" in Gen.1 have nothing to do with the creation of the "heavens and the earth. (Gen. 1:1) If you read verses 2 and 3, you will notice that the earth was already in existence BEFORE creation day 1 began.

The days of creation were vast time periods in which the earth was prepared for human habitation, which took place at the end of day 6. The heavens and the earth, including the earth, could have been around for millions of years before that.

Remember that the bible was written before there were scientific ways to demonstrate the approx. age of the earth. From the beginning of time people have wanted to know where they came from, how life began, etc. The people who wrote Genesis knew there was a need and supplied is as best they could according to the times and the culture. Now, depending on what spiritual tradition you belong to you either take that as a beautiful but mythical story, as literal fact, or somewhere in between. Take your pick.

The Bible doesn't say how old the earth is.
LOL, most of the answers you're going to get will probably be totally stupid.
Trying to sound as if we were experts on things we can't possibly know usually does make us sound totally stupid, haven't you noticed??
