OK so me and my little sister are going to Japan for the summer to spend some time with our family. I'm 14 and my sister is 13. This is going to be the first time we will fly wihtout our mom or dad. To be honest, I'm scared and I'll have to look out for my little sister. The scariest part is when I'll have to change my flights in Atlanta, Georgia to Tokyo. I'm not sure if I'll know were to go and how to spot our gate and things because I haven't been on an airplane in 4 years. I'm a little worried I'll get lost in the Atlanta airport. I would be very grateful if anyone could share some advice.

=)

The airline will be advised in the first place that minors are traveling alone. The flight attendants will keep an eye on you. Feel free to ask any airline staff for help. I have traveled as a minor and still a pin they use to give to the minors that were flying alone. It will be okay:)

Listen I have flown alown 7 times and 3 times internatinaly. I am only 11 but I know a lot. The first thing you do is of corse supply her with emergancy information. She can not get lost in the airport because you or her parent will check her in and acually go to the gate with her but will not board the flight. Once she is with an attendant he or she will take her to her seat and give the emergancy information. They will also have sepecial services on the flight. If she has a connection within 1 hour a flight attendant will escort her directly to a flight. If it is more than one hour the attendent will take her to a lounge. This will repeat for every flight. Once she gets to tokeyo the person picking her up will have to singh a releace form to ensure that it is the right person is picking her up. Your Wellcome!!!

Not to scare you but my 13 year old sister was flying alone and had to switch planes in Atlanta as well. The airline made a mistake and put her on standby. She was alone in Atlanta for 6 hours. Be careful they are not allowed to do it, if by chance it happens stand up for you and your sis. Be assertive about the fact you are both minors and are not to be put on standby. I wouldn't worry though, things will be fine and most likely someone will help you but if not let them know you are displeased.

Be sure to notify the airline, gate personnel and flight attendents that you are traveling without adults. They will help you get to where you need to go, especially that changeover in Atlanta.

If you need help, look at the tv monitors to see which terminal/gate your connecting flight is leaving from and ask airline personnel how to get there. Of course, don't talk to strangers and be aware of your surroundings apply!

the airline should provide assistance for minors to be chaperoned to the destination gate - and then the gate crew will keep an eye on you - stay close to them!

relax - but be determined - NO FEAR !

only go with an Airline employee IN UNIFORM - for your airline

And have a great Trip! You will do well!

if you tell the cabin crew, or staf at the airport, they should give you a helping guide to take you where you need to go.

they'll look out for you and your sis if you tell them you are without your parents.

have a great time!!!
remember to say "Arigato" (thank you)
