Meditation is a spiritual thing, it helps you to feel good about yourself and spiritually better, there can be no evil about meditating, meditating also helps you get closer to God. If meditation is evil then why would anyone want to follow a belief where they cant meditate?

This is a good question and the answer is . . . fear.

Because meditation is associated with Eastern Religions, many Christians are simply scared to look into it.

These fears can be remedied by studying what meditation is and learning that Buddhism isn't actually a religion but a philosophy.

In addition, there is a wonderful Christian monk named Thomas Keating who has written several books and what he calls, "Contemplative Prayer" which in essence is a Christian term for meditation.

One of his really good books is, "Contemplative Prayer: Traditional Christian Meditations for Opening to Divine Union by Thomas Keating.

His books will help bridge the gap between meditation and christianity.

Yoga is actually from Hinduism. Meditation is also connected to Hinduism and Buddhism. As you know, Christians aren't allowed to place any god before theirs. Then again, some Christian prayer is closely related to meditation.
