I recently injured my neck in hockey some kid rammed me into the boards head first and now when i jerk my neck back, move it in a wrong direction or use any muscle to pull back on something like opening a car door it hurts really bad. Its wicked sore even when i'm not doing anything. Does anyone know any excercises i can try or anything to make it help besides asprin or ibuprofen? Thanks

use your hands (dont use the muscles in your neck) and turn your head to the side untill you feel a stretch. Hold it for about 10 seconds. Then do the other side.

then using your hands again, lightly pull your head to your ear untill you feel a stretch. Hold it for about 10 seconds. Then do the other side.

If you haven't already I would start putting ice on your neck for 15-20 minutes at least 3 times per day. Neck injuries such as yours are very serious just ask Travis Roy. I would make an appointment with your MD and have him or her refer you to a Physical Therapist. They are the professionals in healing and exercises prescription.

Hi there s.o.s have you been to the doctor yet you may have done some mighty damage please get it seen too, any kind of pain that is recurring and not going away really should be seen by a doctor, and the neck well! I don't think I would not be wanting to get it looked at you may be carrying a fracture please please get it seen too just thinking about this is making me sweat don't go moving it around too much until you have the all clear from your doctor good luck and I hope your just carry neck strain

well therapy helps...go to the doctors and get an MRI done....sound to me you have a ruptured disc in your neck causing a pinch nerve.....you may need pain pills from the doctor.
that happened to my husband on 10/14/07 and he has several ruptured disc causing pinch nerves.....they tried therapy, anti inflammatory pills and he still on pain pills...now he is getting cortisone shots in his neck every three weeks to see if that helps....if that don't help then it is surgery for him.
Well Good luck...if i was you go to a neurosurgeon...a specialist.
