My 16 months old daughter is hyper on everything. Even when she is sleeping, turning and tossing around. She can never sit still, not even for 20 seconds. Lately, she like to drive me over my edge and I really don't know how to tell her since everything that I said she would never look or listen to me. Anybody can help?

She's testing the boundaries (and thats normal for a child that age. She needs to know when she acts a certain way, something she doesnt like happens. Warn her, if you do that again, you will go to a room/corner of your choice and you will sit there till mummy/daddy says so. Come back in 2 minutes and ask for a hug/apology (depending on age) tell/ask what they did wrong, mummy/daddy asked you to stop and you didnt, if the child is missbehaving, leave for two more minutes, trust me, eventually she'll get the message. Keep consistant with it, every time! DO NOT AKNOWLEDGE HER WHILST SHE IS IN TIME OUT! Also make sure your not feeding her any artificial or very sugary foods, they will make her hyperactive and grumpy.

That's the way a normal, healthy 16 month old acts. They are hyper and not mature enough to listen. If she does something you don't want her to do, remove her from the situation. She is too young still to "disipline". Make a space that is safe for her to play in and make a mess. Take a deep breath and hang on until after she turns 4!

If she never calms down, like not for 20 seconds, then I think you should call her doctor, and see if she can take some med's, because how is she going to be that hyper? How do you get her to take naps?

Try cutting some sugar from her diet. Watch the red dyes in foods (one of my boys is allergic to the red dye and it makes him hyper). Take her out to play and let her run wild in a fenced in area.

Remember to be in control. Children can feel us getting tense and frustrated and it makes them nervous and then they act out.

PLease don't listen to these morons who are telling your to take a BABY to the doctor for medication!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Also, kids that age are naturally hyper. Don't try and talk to and reason with a 16-month old. She can't even understand you. I don't get why people insist on drugging their infants and treating them like adults.

cut out sugar if there's any. no pop, candy, red dye's. Enrole in a toddler program for being hyper. ( sometimes you can find them for free.) Talk to a doctor. my sister was extreamly hyper, could not fall asleep, and it turned out to be a medical problem. And no I'm not saying ADHD/ADD.

I wouldn't be surprised if that is just part of her personality. Was she a big kicker while in the tummy? But, in case of a serious disorder, you may want to consult your physician.
