Looking for suggestions on what I just have in the car for the drive. It will be me, boyfriend 2 chihuahuas, in a Mazda MPV.

I just moved across the country with my two dogs...I had a big bag of snacks for me, some crackers and dog treats for them, a bowl of water and a jug of fresh water for them (I filled the bowl when we stopped at rest stops and they drank and then we walked). I also had lots of toys for them so they could entertain themselves, although one of the dogs pretty much slept for all three days, and the other one looked out the windown the whole time! I also had XM radio in my car which was a lifesaver! Make sure you have a sweatshirt or something handy in case you get cold, and make sure you have plenty of things to drink. Good luck!

Bottled water before you hit Utah (although the temp may not be outrageously high this time of year)......if your going the northern route......drive safe, and enjoy.
