Yep its a shag hair cut... With some uniform layers! Bring the picture during your consultation and your stylist will work off of that! Just because you like the cut in the picture doesn't mean it will result the same on yourself! His hair has been styled in the picture and you may not have the same texture or density as he does (don't worry though the shag is pretty versatile)! Your stylist will explain how to achieve this look and what products to use to obtain separation (I like Nolita Sheer Texture... ask if they carry that or something comprable)! Good Luck! Enjoy the cut! Cutting this style with a razor would give it a great effect (if your hair isn't curly... If your hair is curly NO razor)!!!

I honestly think the best idea is to bring photos of styles you like... having seen the photo you like I would also tell the stylist theat you want the hair razored.. the ends are very loose and thin... when I was trained we called this kind of effect shattered shapes after the British styles that influenced the look back in the 80's
don't worry if you don't think your regular stylist is up to the job... most don't know how to do this type of style. most towns have rock n roll type salons or higher end stylists that can manage this cut for you
good luck!

What I would do is tell your hair dresser your ideas maybe take some pictures. If they are still in the dark ages and do not want to try anything new, maybe go some where that will. I know that trying a new hair stylist can be scary (I've been there) but maybe some one young and fresh will be able to give you the look that you want. I know it worked for me! Good Luck-

Print out the picture and bring it with you. A visual aid always helps so the hair stylist will know exactly what you want. That way you don't end up having something you don't want. Hope this helps! Good luck!

Bring in the picture, and your hairdresser should be able to give you what you want. A picture will help her out a lot more than you trying to explain it to her

Just take the picture with you. And maybe tell them a few additional details to make sure they get it right. It's so annoying when they mess it up!

yeah.. just show them the pic.. and if u want sum slight changes from the pic.. then tell him/her.. usually hairdressers work well from a visual rather than u describing it verbally

hairdresser lingo is not the same as ours. do what the other people advised and take the picture into to him/her. or if they have internet access at the shop, show him/her that webpage.
