I bought a new laptop recently and filled out the free Vista upgrade online but it doesn't tell me when it will ship. Does anybody know when they will ship these free upgrades?

could take several weeks. Also Vista is so full of bugs I would keep using XP untill they fix them.

It's here in Houston. A techie who writes for the local newspaper here has been using it for a few weeks.... one of the newspaper perks. Anyway, he doesn't seem to be too impressed. . But, if it's in Houston, it should be in your area of the country today also or maybe tomorrow. Lord only knows Houston is not the Holy Grail. Hope you like it.

I believe it says 6-8 weeks.
And don't believe anyone below. It's not 'full of bugs.' How can something already be full of bugs when it hasn't evne hit the marketplace? People amaze me with the lack of education they show online.

Some time in February - and with the long lines and mail delay do not count on it until March 1

I thought I was the only one waiting I have sent all the information in December 2006 and have not heard anything from them.
I heard it is crap and we are the guinea pigs!

It is a good possibility that you will have to download them instead of them being shipped. This would be much faster .

I guess you'll have to "order" it on-line from MS. I doubt if they will automatically mail it.
