to respond to an answer about idolizing skinny people.... i agree its in the fashion industry etc....but all this idolizing is done by the fans and people everywhere. second of all what i am saying is majority of the sympathy is with fat people. some cases of being fat is medical but majority of the cases of obesity is from over-eating. my point is to stop self pittiying and getting others pity and to a) either do something about it, or b) to be quiet.-sorry abt the grammar

Ask an overweight person and she/he will say that just the opposite is true.

Skinny or fat, they're both unhealthy. You say that skinny people are not at fault for being skinny which basically means they can't help it right? Have you thought about the fact that some overweight people have genuine medical conditions that cause them to be overweight? Most have done it to themselves by overeating and no exercise but not all just as some skinny people have medical conditions that cause them to be skinny. I know that not every skinny person is anorexic or bulemic.

You're right-it does seem like a double standard.
But, how many super-skinny celebs and models are idolized? Compare that to fat folks. It is considered more socially acceptable to be skinny than fat, without a doubt. Society tolerates fat people-it loves skinny people. The only time people pick on skinny people is when they are way, way too thin.

I think the problem is most people see skinny people as maybe unhealthy. Did you know in some countries women are fattened up before marriage to make them more attractive to the intended spouse? In most countries, I think the image of a more robust person signifies wealth and good living lifestyle--you have to have money to eat, right? Not to make light of you statement (no pun intended), because so many young people are now starving themselves to emulate the media's perception of attractive, the slender people are getting a lot of criticism. You must feel good about you, don't worry about what others think, unless your size is endangering your health.

1) This is really terrible grammer and spelling. It's actually hard to read.
2) You provide absolutely no examples whatsoever of what you are talking about.

I'm sure somewhere, at some time, a skinny person has been picked and somewhere, at some time, an overweight person has been picked on. What does this prove?

My friend was trying on wedding dresses last Sunday and I was talking to her mother-in-law (to be) while she was changing. I told her mother-in-law I couldn't wait for her wedding because I was going to be skinny. This woman looking at dresses on a rack behind me yelled at me, "Like you're not skinny now." So, I turned to the side and told her, "No, I'm pregnant." She was pretty embarrassed, but I thought it was pretty funny!
