I ABSOLUTELY AGREE with your girlfriend. Men are larger and stronger, therefore they should have been the ones to bear children. I love and adore my son but I LOATHED being pregnant and I was never more miserable in my life. I would have been extremely happy to let my husband have him it it were an option. Pregnancy does permanent damage to the body that can only be corrected with surgery. i.e. hemorrhoids, carpal tunnel, stretchmarks, sagging breasts, varicose veins, scarring (with c-section), loss of tightness, etc. I could continue...though not all women experience everyone of these, most will experience some of these. And heck ya - I think men should carry that load equally. If nothing, then at least we could trade off - women have one, men have the next one.

Soley based on the things I have seen living with my husband for almost 9 years I say that men are wimps when it comes to physical pain and self sacrifice.
Sure, some are big and strong but when it comes down to it- men couldn't handle the pain of childbirth, or even the discomforts of pregnancy. And what about the sacrifice that women make to raise their children? Most men don't even do that-
There's an on going joke in childbirth preparation classes that says if men were the ones to have children the human race would cease to exist.
Now I'm not saying men are horrible at everything- they have great qualities too. We couldn't even have babies without men. But I'm glad I have the ability in my body to grow and bear children. There's no greater strength or power than that in my opinion.

HA HA HA!!!
good one!
Come to think of it if men were the one being pregnant then it would only mean that females would be bigger so that they can fight and protect their male while he is pregnant... -- from the evolution point of view.
Thinking of it some more stumbles you on the thought that because of the large quantity of sperm men are made so they can impregnate as much females as they can -- even while another female is pregnant from them already... and if it ere reverse that the quantity thing in makes and females would also be reverse and that means that females would be simply males and vise versa.
And if you think just a bit more you realize that there is no sense whatsoever thinking about that at all

Although yes in theory that sounds like a great idea....the human race would end if it was up to men to have the children...you all are such big babies and wouldn't be able to handle the pain...men get a simple cold and are no good for a week.

If men were to give birth the human race would die in a generation because they wouldn't handle the pain!

I disagree. The delivery canal in males is soooo much smaller, that it would have made delivery even more excruciating. And if the canal was bigger to allow males to have children, we would then be females. I think it has all worked out for the best, as is.

Women are designed to be the nurturers and men are the ones who are supposed to hunt and protect - hence the "bigness".
So, no, I don't agree with her.
However, I think all men should be present during labor and delivery so they can appreciate what a woman goes through. My husband was present at our son's birth and his comment it "I saw it, and I still don't believe it!"

Hehehe...Well, honeybuns, Men may be bigger in general but their pelvises are smaller and flatter... women have larger basin shaped pelvises...not to mention a uterus...and of course a vagina....ask your girlfriend if she really wants to see her child try to make it's way through your penis...I bet she'll change her mind...haha... besides...you men are weenies!!

No offense, but that is ridiculous. Women have an extremely high threshold of pain, far superior to men, that's why we give birth.
