I want to get a tattoo done with my sisters (one older, one younger) but have no idea what would be a great symbol for sisters. Any ideas?

i am a BIG fan of drawing my own tattoos and symbolic things. i would think about something that is very meaningful to all three of you and work from there. my boyfriend and i have matching tattoos...i have a sun (b/c i'm a morning person) and he has a moon (b/c he's a night person). separately they don't mean anything but when we're together, it does. you can also take something and split it into 3 pieces (similar to friendship bracelets) and put the tattoo on the same place on your bodies so that together they are something very meaningful and special. personally, i avoid all chinese letters or symbols b/c i have known people that got one thinking it meant one thing and it really means something totally different and while most other people don't know, they know and it's a little disheartening that you thought you were putting something so special on your body and it's not what you wanted.

you could also look at getting matching armbands or anklets that can be added to as you get older, similar to a charm bracelet. i LOVE the idea of being able to add to your tattoos as you go thru different experiences in your lives separately and then being able to combine them together and share them. i think it's a wonderful idea and i wish you all the luck in the world finding your perfect symbol!!

Do you have nicknames for each other? Perhaps you could get something to symbolize them.

My own sister is 11 years younger than me, and if I wanted to get a tattoo to remind me of her, I'd get a goose (no joke) because I've called her "my little goose" since she was born.

Maybe could you have them do the chinese symbol that means sister, (sorry, I couldn't find a pic) have it put inside a heart or by itself. Also, you could do three hearts linked together. Or find something that means something to each of you, like a flower that your mom has always liked and a saying that your father always says, and put them together.

i have a handicapt sister whos 13 and soon im getting a tattoo of an angel with her initials on it. when it comes to sisters your never going to regret getting the tattoo, but you can easily regret what image you get to represent it. when you think of your sisters what do you think of ? maybe something you guys do together, something from your childhood, nicknames, something special to all of you. anything. just make sure you think it through.

You could always do your zodiac's...have them linked together with small tribal flairs.
Or do an armband with the date of birth for each of you in a pretty font.
Tribalshapes.com has a list of symbols...you might find one there that you all will like.

I dont know who you are but I think you and your sisters have very lovely skin and there fore you should not spoil it with tattoos what if later on you all decide to run for public office you wont want to hide your skin in long sleeves or pants all the time, so I would say no symbol is good.

what represents sisters to you? it doesn't have to be something that is "known" as a sisterhood symbol. you could get anything as long as it all reminds you of eachother.

get something that means something to just you guys. you must have an inside joke, or something special between you.
you can always do hearts or something else real girly. as long as it is the same it will be special. what a memory you will share!
