I'm from Southern California and I'm leaving for a 5 day trip with my husband and 5 kids. We are going to Ohio where the forecast shows 15 degrees (F) and snow. We will be guests at my brothers home in Hudson. I'm starting to PANIC while I pack. Can you tell me if there is something that I absolutely need to take with me, besides a warm jacket and shoes with good traction? ANY HELP IS APPRECIATED!

As an Ohioan, I would recommend that you pack "layers." You need to wear a shirt with a sweater over it that way if you get warm you can take the sweater off. A coat with a hood or ear muffs and gloves are a must. Wind is a problem in Ohio so you need something to cover your ears and head. If you are going to be outside I would put tights or pantyhose under your pants. At night I would wear something flannel and socks. Make sure that your socks are warm and bring extra pairs because the snow may go through your shoes and wet your socks. I hope this helps. Enjoy the Ohio winter!

gloves! hands get cold too
then a hat or scarf(or both) because your head of course gets cold
most likely you know to bring jeans, but if you bring a warm enough jacket, then you can wear a short sleeved shirt underneath, or a long sleeve.
PJ's that are long sleeved /long pants(not shorts) b/c you might get cold at night since you're not used to the weather.(if you are though you can pack PJ shorts b/c i'm fine with them)
if you checked the weather and its going to be snowing a good amount, then an extra pair of clothes or buy long johns to stay warm if you are going to be playing in the snow.
chapstick b/c your lips might loose moisture.

thats about all i can think of.
have a nice trip=]

Thick socks; hats that cover the ears, or ear muffs; warm gloves; scarves; sweaters; long underwear.

Of course it depends on how much time you plan on spending outside. If it's only going from the car to the house, you don't need a lot. But if you are planning on going skiing, go to your nearest sporting goods store and have them help you out with some warm weather gear.
