Well, it's up to you.
If you are doing it for socialization then it's good for you and the dog. Since you are already taking an obedience class with a good instructor, (good for you!) now you know not all classes are alike. It's always good to go to "observe" a class prior to joining.
I hated the dog class I had my latest dog to.
The class is basically to teach US HUMANS how to train our dogs.
If you are learning sit, and your dog and you are benifiting and it's not harming or un-doing any 'good' training..........then go for it!
YOU can always ask if you can have a partial refund, that you aren't satisified with the class.
Did you sign a contract? An agreement? Is there a refund or satisfaction policy.
I AM very happy you found a good obedience class!
A well trained human trains a well trained dog!! :)
***perhaps you can consider talking to the class trainer person, and asking for an outline of the class--
OR see what you can personally add to the class and help others who are there and not learning either. ;)
If you're not happy, and the dog is learning bad habits, I'd not go.
As for a refund, I don't think you will have much luck.
Out of 4 dogs, and 4 different trainers over 30 years of dogs,
Every dog is different, EVERY CLASS IS NOT EQUAL!!
*the last trainer I had did NOTHING TO HELP ME OR MY DOG!
I have a smaller breed, and he was a police dog/ big dog trainer and NO REFUND.
***I hated the class, hated going, hated the instructor, and If I had it to over again. I would have quit and said to heck with the $90.xx Because MY happiness IS more important than some idiot's training that was not for me or my dog!

Dump the Puppy Socialization class.
If your pup is already benefitting from the obedience class, stick with that one. Every time you take your pup to that class and he's around other people and other dogs, he's learning valuable dog / human "socialization" skills without your having to spend extra money for it.

Nope, not at all worth it. We had the same situation when we got our Border Collie puppy last summer. The first class we signed up for was terrible. So I found a different trainer and have been happy ever since. We cut our losses on the cost of that first one we signed up for, and dropped it, as we felt it was worth it to go to a good trainer rather than the other one.

NO! If you want your pup to play with others, do what parents of human children do. Invite a friend with an age appropriate pup to visit. As far as training is concerned, use parental skills. Teach the pup the meaning of the words he needs to know, such as sit, stay, no. Remember teaching does not include hitting or screaming. The best discipline for most dogs is "No, bad dog" and time out. I have trained many "untrainable" dogs, including my best friend who was scheduled for euthanasia at a rescue society, using this method. She is now well behaved, loving and faithful.

It were anything other than puppy class, and you already knew how to train a dog I'd say you could stay where you are.
However, a poorly run puppy class can actually be bad for your puppy. And if you need to learn and you're not learning, then you definitely need to go elsewhere.

in case you have have been given a competent cope with on common puppy coaching, and he gets a frequently happening risk to socialise with different canines and individuals, then a puppy classification probable isn't a necessity - it ought to be a competent thank you to enhance issues, nevertheless. in case you do no longer do the puppy classification, you ought to to make certain if there's a canines sturdy Citizen classification and connect that, or perhaps a sophisticated puppy classification.

socializing is a class with other dogs around so you pet can get use to other pets and people. and that is the class. but she should at least tell you a few do's and don't's. and obedience classes is a different class from the other. it doesn't seem fair but that is the way it is.
