So...it's ok for the spouse to be illegal and break the law in the US...just not other countries.
Do they not think about this prior to having a family with someone who is in the country illegally?

if you knowingly are with a man that is illegal, you should also be deported along with him and stripped of your american rights. it should not be a question of IF you want to go. you are an accessory to a crime and deserve to be punished as well. its a good thing i am not in office......

Sometimes, it's not practical or possible.
If a US citizen wants to live in another country, he needs to get the proper visas and documents. Also, financially, it may not be possible. The US citizen may earn far less in a foreign country than he does in the US, and the chances of earning a decent living in places like Mexico and India are very slim. Also, there is a possibility of losing US citizenship if you stay out of the country for too long.

well first of all....i would NEVER get myself into that situation. on the very first date i made sure my man was eligible for entry. i had also already decided if i liked his country enough to live there, which i did.
but for people in that situation...as someone said, sometimes it's not possible. think about it...wages in mexico are BAD, and if the american moved there...they couldn't work, so...a single income of 5 bucks a day? nu uh. and if they did work and get caught...well, they would be seperated with NO chance of being together.
also, one time i was at the border with my boyfriend, and they wouldn't let him in...even though he had all his papers. and i had this thought of..."but! but!! i'm a citizen!! he's my guest!! it's my country and i want him here!!" we are kind of taught you know, "this land is your land, this land is my land...lalala..." and not, "this land is the governments land" and it's difficult for an american to realize their life, in this respect, is not their own. we are taught we have rights, freedom, liberty, our whole lives. and our family is part of that, and it's principle. it's difficult to let it sink in that in this battle, freedom and liberty do not apply. i think people who stay are holding out that something will change.
and if you know the law, once that person leaves, their spouse really doesn't have a chance. because the citizen must have a home, and salary in the US great enough to support that immigrant spouse. if the citizen moves, they give up those qualifications, and any chance of moving back with the spouse. they have to stay to keep trying.

No, you wouldn't go anywhere without your husband because you have it good here. They don't.
Good for you. But that's not what I'm talking about...you and him have it good here. These people are trying to survive and better themselves. The Mexican government is corrupt. Maybe one day this problem will be solved-but I don't think that it's going to happen in my generation-or the next-lol.

I am a caucasian american citizen (born and raised), why should I have to give up my country and the comforts I was raised with just because I happen to fall in love with some one who is "different". Is that fair to me and my family. Should my children have to settle for a sub-par education when they can get a first rate one in the country they were born in, all because their father made a mistake. A mistake we are more than wililng to correct. People make mistakes every day, they break the law everyday. They are given the chance to correct that by paying fines, going to traffic school, community service, probation, etc. I can not speak for the whole families that are here illegally, I can only speak for the families that are american-mexican, american-chinese, american-whatever. they are simply asking for the chance to correct a wrong without the separation of families.

there are many cases where the whole family is deported and they are kept in seperate detention facilities ... i think thats where most of the outcry is coming from and you have the story wrong ...thats what i understand anyway ... the biggest outcry is u have women and children in what amounts to being a concentration camp ...

Yeah, there is some other way that they are getting into this country. Like the tunnel they had from mexico into america. There is more than likely another. It's like escaping from prison and leaving your best friend behind in there. They don't know any better. I guess their piss poor government is that bad. Don't care though.
What did I say????
