Parts of it, have been confirmed by different sciences, but this does not make the bible true.
It merely means that the bible was based on stories that involved these places.
If that were the case then do you bible thumpers who want to prove the existance of god and the bible literally, because of the existance of some other historical figure in the bible is true.
You realize that by that standard the Da vinci code- which you bible thumpers must hate, must also be true- as there is no debate as to whether da vinci existed.
Thus the tales about chuck norris written on the internet must also be true as chuck norris is a real person. (ok this isn't a good one because in fact these stories ARE in fact true).
The flying spaghetti monster also exists as we are facing global warming and pirates did in fact exist historically.
RAmen!
Godzilla exists as well because in all the stories, japan is a country which exists.
In the illiad, athena gives achillies back his spear during the battle with hector, the gods also battled for and against troy on the battlefield. we have found that homer existed (something the bible doesn't have, a verified author) AND have found ceramics and other archeological and geographical evidence to prove the existance of troy. Guess you bible thumpers just verified that greek gods (as opposed to christian mythology) are MORE legitimate to believe in than your god as at least we can verify the author of the illiad so it has a leg up on the bible in terms of truth.
I can cite many more examples, each one crazier than the next.
The bible can be a good source to look for ancient artifacts as obviously all fairy tales have an origin of an existing place or culture or belief- the grimm brothers have the same roots in history as the bible, but I doubt you will find anyone of sound mind claiming that they have found Jack's beanstalk or briar rose's fairy god mother.
Ludicrus line of thinking nice straw man arguments you thumpers have, but I digress, I am late for a dinner with bugs bunny, brian griffin and towlie as new york, quahog rhode island and south park colorado are all existing places.

This is just one of the thousand text and archelogocial evidence of the reliability of the Bible. The Bible far surpasses every test science uses to authentic historical texts, etc., yet many still ascertain its just a fairy tale. The following is just one of many proofs. Before you decide, do the homework. Your life depends on it.
The discovery of the Ebla archive in northern Syria in the 1970s has shown the Biblical writings concerning the Patriarchs to be viable. Documents written on clay tablets from around 2300 B.C. demonstrate that personal and place names in the Patriarchal accounts are genuine. The name "Canaan" was in use in Ebla, a name critics once said was not used at that time and was used incorrectly in the early chapters of the Bible. The word "tehom" ("the deep") in Genesis 1:2 was said to be a late word demonstrating the late writing of the creation story. "Tehom" was part of the vocabulary at Ebla, in use some 800 years before Moses. Ancient customs reflected in the stories of the Patriarchs have also been found in clay tablets from Nuzi and Mari.

TRUE! There are many more sources that confirm what we read in the bible.
1. Geography
2. Texts
3. Toponymy
4. Archaeology
Geography- If you study the geography of Israel you would see how it affected the settlement patterns, routes of travel commerce, econmy, politics and thus the history of that time. The geography of the Biblical Israel confirms what we read in the Bible.
Texts- There are extra-biblical texts (texts outside the Bible) that also confirm what is written in scripture. Egyptian sources are primarily from the 2nd millenium BCE. There are 4 types.
1) Expedition journal and topographical lists- example is Thutmose III.
2) Literary papyri-example, Journey of Sinuhe
3) Execration texts- 2 sets (ursing)
4) Coorespondance archives- El Amarna letters
Other Extra Biblical texts include Mesopotamian sources, from Syria the Ebla texts, from Transjordan the Mesha Stele, from Israel the Tel Dan inscription.
Also look at authors like the famous historian Josephus, Tacitus, Pliny the younger, Julius Africanus, and the Talmud.
Toponymy- the study of place names. If you study the cities and other names in the Bible you will see that they have the Principles of Location which prove they really did exist. Those are:
1) Near a water source.
2) Defensible.
3) Continuity of the name through the centuries.
4) It fits with the geography described in the text.
5) Check data from archaelogical surveys.
No one would settle in a place that did not have these Principles of Location. If you check in the Bible, no one did (unless they were hiding)
Archaeology- If we dig in Israel and find ancient sites that are consistent with where the Bible said we would find them, that shows the Bible's history and geography are accurate. One prominate archaeologist carefully examined Luke's references to 32 countries, 54 cities, and 9 islands, finding not a single mistake. These are only some sites that have been excavated: The Pool of Bethesda in John 5:1-15, the Pool of Siloam from John 9:7, Jacob's well from John 4:12, even Pontius Pilate's identity has been confirmed by archaeology! John McRay PH. D. was asked if he had ever encountered an archaeological finding that blatantly contravene a New Testament reference he responded, "Archaeology has not produced anything that is unequivocally a contradiction to the Bible. On the contrary, there have been many opinions of skeptical scholars that have become codified into 'fact' over the years but that archaeology has shown to be wrong."

Hmm I never read the story of Jesus waking on water.....but I do know He WALKED on water. I do believe the Bible is the word of God and the truth. And it is the truth that has set me free from sin and hell- only due to the grace of God! So praise be to Him!

No actually, "Evolution is a fairy tale for adults" Who said so? No lesser person than the renowned scientist Professor Louis Bounoure, former President of the Biological Society of Research at the National Centre of Scientific Research in France. He went on to say, "This theory has helped nothing in the progress of science. It is useless."

Were you there? Then you cannot say these events didn't occur. Obviously you are spiritually dead and therefore the idea of a totally sovereign God doing as He pleases, when He pleases, how He pleases is completely foreign to you. Now, evolution, there is a fairy tale and a myth.

I have seen an angel and also have seen the visitation of Jesus christ, and 2 other visions on top of those. Visitations and gifts of hte spirit prove that there is a God. I never questioned these testiomonies of Gods power as being anyting like a myth.
although i do question traditional christian believes.
