I think this depends most on what your husband's interests are. There are plenty of cool things to do downtown or in the suburbs. What I would suggest is getting something light to eat at a cool place, maybe a slice of pizza at Uno's or Due's, then going to somewhere like EspnZone or Dave & Buster's, then maybe going to a romantic restaurant later on at night. Make it an all day thing if you can. The more the merrier.

The BEST place we have EVER been on Holiday was in Egypt... we took a 7 day cruise on the Nile. If you like history and also the mysterious you will love this. It is cheap, the people are SO friendly and the food is delicious - the best 28th birthday present I could have ever hoped for. OR if you like the Island thing FIGI is absolutely stunning and will definitely create a very romantic setting for the two of you. Happy anniversary.

It depends on how much you want to spend really. You may want to get a nice hotel room and order candlelight room service or go to a special restaurant. There are so many things you could do! You could take him to a sporting event. If your husband is truly into romance, I might stay in a hotel and go out to dinner - bring your swimming suit if they have a pool, order in Champagne or get room service to bring you candlelit dessert (gourmet, and arranged in advance of your stay).

I believe you are the element that will make the event romantic -- which means almost anywhere you take him, it is possible to infuse romance!

Wife and I went to Geja's and thought it was overrated and you will come out of their smelling like food because it is a fondue restaurant. I would suggest one of the following: Signature Room (95th floor of the John Hancock building) it has one of the best views in the city, Gibsons (great steaks), Everest, Topolobampo (Frontera Grill) (my wife's favorite), or Rosebud. There are so many good restaurants in the city. Metromix.com has some good reviews as well that you can sort by type of food and/or location.

I may be mistaken, but isn't there a Bob's Steak and Chop House in Chicago? If so, take him there for a dining experience he'll never forget. Incredible steaks, incredible atmosphere, incredible service. It's expensive ($70-100 for 2 people) but it's so worth it!

Harry Carey's restaurant on Kinzie. Nice place, good food and it's even got sports stuff... He'll love it. Then check into the Intercontental Hotel on Michigan Ave and make him forget all about dinner! ;-)
