If it's for cosmetic why not? If it's for medical definately. Purely your choice. Having it removed by a doctor would not be dangerous. I had a mole on my back removed and one on my shoulder because I had too.

if the doctor told you about then it cant be too dangerous depending on what kind of birhmark it is and its location

I have a pink heart shaped one ( yes really!) on my left jaw near my ear...I dont know where yours is or if it really bothers you, but I wouldnt get mine removed
