Limewire's connectivity wasn't happening.. neither was frostwire after i downloaded it cos everyone was raving about it
i turned off my firewall
and i definately have no viruses.
what in the hell else could be wrong ?

if you have virus protection then that could also be blocking anything from coming in

Connection settings set up wrong in applications, If you are connecting through a router make sure there is no ports being blocked and that if there is one firewall for router is turned off. It can really only be a process blocking the data flow.

It could be that your ISP blocks all P2P traffic. Some of them do that sort of thing.
