I'm dog-sitting while my aunt is away. Her dog has a urninary condition and must eat a special food called "Urinary S.O.". But my own dog who does not have a urinary condition is always trying to get some of this other specialized kibble. I try to keep her away from it, but sometimes, that little sneak, she gets past me and snags some. So, could it actually be bad for her if she eats it?

Don't worry about it. Dogs are scavengers and eat a whole lot worse things than specialized dog food.

I doubt that small quantities that she sneaks can actually harm her. I would think that if she were to eat a specialized dog food for which she has no condition, that eventually it could lead to health and nutrition problems, but since that doesn't seem to be the case, I wouldn't worry. My pug eats perscription food for a digestive track disorder and occasionally my other dog gets a couple of bites before I notice and she has never had any problems as a result.

That food is fine for your doggy... it wont hurt your dog but I know that stuff is expensive and specialized for the doggy's problem... so a few nibbles here and there are fine but make sure that the doggy with the problems gets the correct food and not your doggy's food as the other dog has problems that need to be controled and the food is for that...it has special ingredients in it for the urinary problems..... good luck...smile....

It will not cause issues. It is specialized, not medicated. this means that, for instance, it contains a certain type of proteins that do not irritate the urinary condition, and is therefore more expensive. It is a preventative, but it cannot hurt "normal" dogs. But don't let her eat it all the time cuz its expensive.

i dint know if its bad for them to eat it! but u can call or go to the web site on that dog food bag if there is one. ask the people that made it. but u can also put the dig food in a different room so the dog that cant eat it cant get in there! but let the one that needs it in there when u think its hungry.or the dog will let u know it wants to eat after it knows that its in there!

No. My cat has had a urinary tract infection. We give her food (even though she's better now) so she doesn't get another one. It won't hurt your dog.

i don't think it will hurt her, but don't let her eat a lot of it. to be safe
keep them apart while eating so that they don't eat each others food. your dog wants it because its different from hers and thinks
its a treat.

I doubt if it was made for dogs that it would'nt harm dogs. You might want to ask your local vet, though, just to make sure.

No, it won't be bad for her. The good news is both dogs will have good pee systems.
